This finely engraved coloured original antique lithograph print of neo-classical European decoration was published by Ernst Wasmuth in the 1889 edition of Farbige Decorationen, Berlin.Farbige Decorationen, was published in two volumes between 1889 & 1896 . the volumes contained 121 coloured plates lithographed by Ernst Wasmuth, illustrating contemporary architectural and decoration.
Ernst Wasmuth – a very influential publisher who is famous for a book on the architect Frank Lloyd Wright entitled Studies and Executed Buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright, published in Germany in 1910. This two-volume work, which contains more than 100 lithographs of Wright’s designs, is commonly known as the Wasmuth Portfolio.(Ref: M&B; Tooley)
